The drop of blood that falls from Caitlyn's mangled eye like a tear is such a masterful detail. She's so physically, emotionally, and mentally beaten down that this little animation could be symbolic of so much. Is it to represent her physical pain, the amount of suffering she endured to try to atone for her sins? Is she thinking of Vi, how she very well might bleed out before she gets a chance to see her again, how she'll just be another person Vi has to lose? Is she thinking of her mistakes, how she will never get the chance to right her wrongs if she dies in this moment?

We only see Caitlyn cry in the first episode of this season, when she breaks in Vi's arms. She's had to hide her emotions so much, evidenced especially in the intro where she appears to be stepping onto a stage. We see her take a deep breath, steel herself, before she slips on her mask. Her eyebrows lift, she flashes a fake smile, tries to look every bit the composed Kiramman she's expected to be even while she's dying inside. (Also if you look closely, for a split second it looks like you can see the outline of her scar across her left eye, perhaps foreshadowing?)

There's just something poetic about Caitlyn bottling her emotions until she bleeds, how she isn't allowed to cry until her tears turn to blood.

It’s midnight I need to say this first off thank you arcanegifs for the gif you are doing gods work second of all

Vi is intentionally manipulating Caitlyn here I’m sure of it and I’m going insane.

I’m basing this off the act three teaser because god vi is so angry in that she’s so mad and she has every right to be but why isn’t she that mad here? What’s holding her back in this moment?

First off: Vi is smart. Vi is a lot smarter than I think people give her credit for. She knows how to push people’s buttons, and specifically Caitlyn’s buttons. In season one vi got out of that prison and then managed to figure out exactly what made Cait tick, what made her nervous and what made her embarrassed and what would get her off vi’s back and she did all of that in a span of what, an hour? Two? Vi knows how to get to people and she knows how to get to Caitlyn especially.

Second: vi is observant. She’s reckless but she’s not an idiot, she knows she’s walking into enemy territory and she knows to keep her eyes out. Caitlyn has received ambessa’s training for a few months but vi grew up in an environment where you have to watch your back or you’re going home with lighter pockets. I have virtually no doubt in my mind that vi saw Caitlyn up there and had an idea of what she would try and do.

And that brings us to my third point: vi is incredibly empathetic. She very likely doesn’t believe that Cait has gone fully to the dark side, and she knows that this is her chance to see just where she is and how much help she can get. So she pulls out “cupcake” because she knows Caitlyn is weak to it and she knows Caitlyn is weak to her and they have the chance to do something about the warlord on their home turf.

She’s angry, of course she’s angry, but the anger can wait until vi is sure they’re fighting on the same side again.

On Victor being loved...

It's so subtle, but it's so impactful to me. The way Jayce uses Sky's notes in combination with his to reanimate Viktor. The way how even after leaving, Viktor wears Jayce's blanket, pinned with Sky's broach. The way when Vander's psyche overexerted Viktor, Sky was there to quietly support him into not overdoing it. The way even when he came to end what he's created, Jayce can't look at Viktor without his expression softening.

I think with all that's happening with Viktor is easy to overlook that Viktor became an amalgamation of the two people who loved him the most.

And I think that's as beautiful as it is tragic. Jayce's unconditional and loud love mirrored by Sky's shy, quiet one. The way Viktor couldn't handle acknowledging either - downgrading what he had with Jayce by calling it "affection" when it was clearly love and recognizing Sky's only after she passed.

I'm choosing to go with the "glasses theory" so to me Sky's spirit is alive in the anomaly since she's not wearing her glasses and her glasses were the last thing left in the real world so to me it is her real self attached to Viktor's spirit as they're both fused with the core.

And that would make Jayce killing viktor's body even sadder because he also kills the last of his humanity manifested by Sky.

I don't know I just think people are really quick to jump both Sky and Jayce (for different reasons) but either ways both of their love for Viktor was real and to some degree Viktor knows it.

Okay we have to talk about the Frankenstein allusions in Arcane because I knew my English degree would eventually come in handy (This is my moment).

So obviously Viktors name us an allusion to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (mad scientist donning the name Viktor, impossible not to make the connection). Originally thought the writers twist on Viktor Frankenstein was that arcane’s Viktor was both monster and creator (and he still defiantly is but that aside).However, season two has given me a new insight and entered a new player into the dynamic: Jayce.

Viktor told Jayce to destroy the hex-core. Instead Jayce used it to save Viktors life. When Viktor emerges, changed, barely recognizable, not human but creature, he’s upset with Jayce for not following his wishes. Not only does Viktor have to rediscover his changed form but he is made of something volatile neither of them understand. Jayce becomes Viktor Frankenstein and Viktor becomes his creation which he is repulsed by.
